Job Description: Executive Pastor / Administrative Pastor

Purpose Statement

To serve the vision of our church by providing strategic leadership and ensuring the operational health and alignment of all ministries and systems.


Key Responsibilities

Governance & Strategy

  • Partner with the Lead Pastor and church leadership to develop, implement, and evaluate church-wide strategies, initiatives, and ministry alignment.
  • Provide oversight to ensure effective governance structures are in place.
  • Serve as a bridge between leadership and the congregation to ensure communication and alignment with the church’s mission and vision.

People & Staff Oversight

  • Lead the human resources function, including recruitment, onboarding, evaluations, promotions, conflict resolution, and transitions.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and accountability among staff and volunteers.
  • Work with department leaders to build strong ministry teams and nurture leadership development.

Finance & Stewardship

  • Develop and manage the church’s annual budget in collaboration with ministry leaders and the finance team.
  • Monitor expenses, ensure financial transparency, and promote responsible stewardship.
  • Ensure legal and financial compliance with all applicable regulations.

Facilities Management

  • Oversee the maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of all church properties and facilities.
  • Plan and manage facility upgrades, renovation projects, and capital campaigns.
  • Coordinate the church-wide calendar for facility usage and events.

Systems & Operations

  • Implement and manage effective systems, policies, and procedures that ensure the church operates with excellence and efficiency.
  • Oversee IT infrastructure, data management, and other administrative systems that support church operations.

General Staff Responsibilities

  • As a staff member, support the broader mission of the church through involvement in prayer, pastoral care, training, and participation in church-wide events as assigned by the reporting manager.
  • Maintain a positive, flexible attitude and collaborate effectively with other staff and volunteers.

  • Number of active staff and volunteers
  • Timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting
  • Efficiency and satisfaction in operations and systems
