Job Description: Associate Pastor of Care

As an Associate Pastor, you serve the entire church community and may be called upon to function in various capacities, including pastoral care, counseling, preaching, and teaching.


Care System Oversight

You are responsible for the development, oversight, and management of our church’s care system in alignment with church policies and procedures. This includes:

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for all care-related needs, including visitation and meal coordination.
  • Leading or delegating pastoral visits, organizing staff or volunteer participation as needed.
  • Overseeing the church’s pastoral counseling process, including maintaining a referral network of qualified Christian counselors in the community.
  • Managing the benevolence budget and distributing funds as appropriate. This includes processing applications for sponsorships related to camps and paid church events.
  • Supervising the church food pantry and clothing distribution ministries.
  • Supporting and overseeing church-based support groups.
  • Recruiting, training, managing, and celebrating volunteers who serve in the care ministry, including the Sunday prayer team and visitation team.

Life Events Coordination

You are responsible for the leadership and coordination of major life events, including:

  • Overseeing the baby dedication process, including preparation classes, dedication services, and family follow-up.
  • Leading the church’s pre-marital counseling and courses, and officiating or supporting weddings.
  • Planning and coordinating all funerals hosted or conducted by the church.

General Staff Responsibilities

As a member of the pastoral staff, you serve the broader church community and may be asked to support other ministries and events as needed. This may include visitation, prayer ministry, leadership training, and general service at the discretion of your reporting manager.


Team Culture and Alignment

You are expected to be thoroughly familiar with and a consistent champion of the church’s vision, values, policies, and procedures. A flexible, servant-hearted, and positive attitude is essential as you work in partnership with other staff and volunteers to fulfill the mission of the church.
